S. Korea's exports fall on weak global chip demand
Exports out of South Korea dropped 13.6% year-on-year to $55.12 billion in March, the country's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on Saturday.
Specifically, March exports of South Korea's main product, semiconductors, plummeted 34.5% compared to the same month the previous year, likely signaling that the global demand for chips is declining.
Imports into South Korea decreased by 6.4% on an annualized basis in March and landed at $59.75 billion.
