S. Korea sees spike in virus cases, reports 58 new

The number of COVID-19 infections confirmed during the day in South Korea stood at 58, rising compared to the significantly lower number of daily infections seen in the past few months. The Asian nation saw new infection clusters as of late, taking the number of cases registered yesterday to a two-month high.

Following the update, the total number of people who tested positive for the virus in the country increased to 11,402, according to Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). Of the cases seen on Thursday, 55 were domestically transmitted, with the remaining 4 imported from abroad.

The total number of deaths remained at 269, as no additional fatalities were seen. Meanwhile, 23 patients have been released from care, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,363.
