S. Korea to get drones in rapid acquisition process - report

South Korea intends to obtain four types of advanced military equipment by the year-end through the country's "rapid acquisition process," Yonhap News Agency reported citing officials familiar with the matters.

According to the media outlet, under the program, with a budget of $25.03 million for the year 2020, Seoul decided to buy two types of surveillance drones small unmanned aircraft as well as portable anti-drone guns.

"We expect to procure those items as early as September," a Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) official said, adding: "More items are under review for additional acquisition through this process this year."
