S. Korea to launch 7.5M Sputnik V jab doses soon

South Korean pharmaceutical company GL Rapha told TASS on Thursday that it was aiming to produce 7.5 million doses of the Gamaleya Research Institute's vaccine against COVID-19, Sputnik V, in the near future.

The firm's representative, Kim Gi Young, confirmed GL Rapha had sent a sample of its product to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for evaluation and expressed his belief that "very soon we will be able to start the next stage." However, he said there was still "no discussion" about whether those doses would be used in South Korea or if all of them would be delivered elsewhere. Kim also did not specify which countries would receive GL Rapha's shots.

The RDFI and GL Rapha previously agreed the company would produce 150 million doses of Sputnik V in a year, starting from either January or February 2021.
