S. Korea's daily COVID cases hit nine-month high

The number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday in South Korea landed at 629, marking the nation's highest daily rise in cases since early March, according to the data aggregated by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).

After the newly recorded infections are included, the country's total adds up to 36,332, with the number of deaths attributed to the virus increasing to 536, rising by 7 over the course of the day.

Meanwhile, another 259 people were released from quarantine after making a full recovery, which brought South Korea's total number of recoveries to 28,611, according to the KCDC.
