S&P/Case-Shiller: US home prices rise 1% in July

House prices in the United States grew 1% in July compared to the same month the previous year, according to a report by S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller on Tuesday. The 20-City Composite index was up 0.1% year-on-year compared to an annual drop of 1.2% in June, while the 10-City Composite rose by 0.9% from a 0.5% fall in June. Chicago remained in the top spot with a 4.4% year-over-year price increase, followed by Cleveland at 4%, and New York at 3.8%.

On a monthly basis, house prices rose by 0.6% overall. The 10-City Composite index grew by 0.8% in July compared to June and the 20-City was up by 0.9%.
