Sabalenka wins 2023 Australian Open
Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus claimed her first-ever Grand Slam singles title after beating Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open finals on Saturday.
In a match that lasted over two hours, the 24-year-old player managed to shock her opponent and secure a victory, despite dropping the first set. She beat Rybakina in the sets of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
After lifting the Daphne Akhurst trophy, Sabalenka congratulated her opponent, adding she hopes to play her again soon. "Hopefully, we will have many more battles, hopefully in the final of grand slams," said the Belarusian.
