Scholz: Dramatic spread in Germany 'very worrying'

German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz revealed on Tuesday his concerns about the continuous spreading of the COVID-19 in Germany, pointing out that there might be a need for "extra measures" to control the infection rate.

Scholz made it clear that the dramatic increase in infections is deeply worrying, making the introduction of "targeted, temporary and focused" extra measures, ideally nationwide, almost inevitable.

His statement came out one day after Bundesbank's report for a slowed economic recovery in Germany, and one day prior to the meeting between Angela Merkel and the regional heads that is to take place on Wednesday and will define the restriction measures that are to be decided.
