Schumer: More stimulus priority in new Senate

The next United States Senate, which will have a Democratic majority, will see adopting more coronavirus-related stimulus for the economy as a priority, incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in an agenda sent to colleagues on Tuesday.

The document, which was seen by The Hill, adds that the new legislation will include $2,000 stimulus checks. Meanwhile, Schumer tweeted that President Donald Trump's term must end immediately and that Congress Democrats are ready and willing to start an impeachment process.

After Joe Biden is sworn-in as the US president on January 20, the Senate will be divided 50-50. However, the vice president's vote breaks all ties in the upper chamber of Congress, which means that with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris the Democrats will have a majority.
