SCOTUS blocks order for Trump's tax returns

The ruling that requires tax returns of United States President Donald Trump to be given to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform was temporarily blocked by the Supreme Court of the United States on Monday.

Earlier, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the claim made by Trump's legal team that he, as a sitting president, has immunity from the investigation of his financial records. Trump's lawyer Jay Sekulow then announced that the case will be brought before the highest judicial body in the country.

Trump's financial records, kept by his former accounting firm Mazars, were sought by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance back in September in a separate case.
