Second wave's impact will be less severe - BoE's Bailey

The second wave of coronavirus is not likely to have as severe an impact on the United Kingdom's economy as the first one, Bank of England (BoE) Governor Andrew Bailey asserted on Thursday.

In an interview with the Yorkshire Post, Bailey added that COVID-19 will "obviously add to economic uncertainty," and stressed that additional support for certain economic sectors is paramount for recovery.

Bailey has previously described the economic bounce-back in the country as "uneven," but also stated that BoE isn't out of tools it can use if the situation asks for it.
