Senate GOP say they could support higher infrastructure spending

Senate Republicans have indicated that they are willing to support higher infrastructure spending, as long as the bill would draw the line at physical infrastructure, Politico reported citing several lawmakers.

"The first offer is meant to be countered, so I would imagine that none of those figures are solid," Senator Shelley Moore Capito reportedly said, referring to the $568 price tag proposed by the GOP.

The Democrats can still use budget reconciliation on the administration's infrastructure plan in order to fast-track its passage. The move would allow the party to bypass the filibuster and adopt the bill without Republican support, avoiding any potential back and forth with the opposing political party.
