Senator Gillibrand launches presidential campaign

United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand launched her 2020 presidential run on Sunday and announced she will give her first campaign speech next week in front of the Trump Hotel in New York.

In a video posted on YouTube, Gillibrand said the US needs "a leader who makes big, bold, brave choices. Someone who isn’t afraid of progress. That’s why I’m running for president. And it’s why I’m asking you for your support," she underscored. The senator promised to "provide paid family leave for all, end gun violence, pass a Green New Deal, get money out of politics and take back our democracy."

Earlier reports suggested that the New York senator may run for president in 2020, as she reportedly talked with top Democratic donor Bernard Schwartz about a potential campaign.
