Sentix investor confidence strengthens in August

The Eurozone Sentix investor confidence index landed at -13.4 in August, improving from -18.2 recorded in July to beat expectations, according to Sentix's survey results that were unveiled on Monday. Investor sentiment in both Germany and the euro area marked an upward trend for the fourth consecutive month.

Expectations remained "stably positive" at +19.3 points as investors believe the economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis is likely to continue.

CEFA Managing Director Patrick Hussy asserted the "economic recovery is proving sluggish" but the August figure of the sentix economic indices is "surprising" as it was higher than expected. "It is remarkable in this context that a second wave of corona infections does not leave a new fear reflex in the economic indicators," he noted.
