Seoul refutes claims of anti-China stance after NATO summit

South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin refuted claims on Saturday that President Yoon Suk-yeol's participation in a summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was promoting an anti-China stance.

"China is a country that has benefited the most from liberalism trade," Park said, emphasizing that Beijing should consider joining the international order that could benefit the country. Prior to the NATO Summit in Madrid, Beijing expressed disapproval of Asia-Pacific nations, including South Korea, attending the alliance's gathering.

Concerning the North Korean crisis, the foreign minister stated that cooperation between Seoul, Tokyo, and Washington is possible through joint military exercises in response to Pyongyang's provocations, adding that China, Russia, and UN Security Council permanent members are also concerned about North Korea's future actions.
