Seoul thinks N. Korea may agree to end-of-war talks

South Korea's National Intelligence Service Director Park Jie-won (pictured) said that North Korea could possibly agree to participate in bilateral discussions about ending the 1950-53 Korean War without preconditions.

Park informed the parliament in Seoul about his personal assessment on the matter on Thursday, according to lawmaker Kim Byung-kee from the ruling Democratic Party, who spoke to Yonhap News Agency.

However, opposition lawmaker Ha Tae-keung claimed Park also reported that Pyongyang sought that sanctions against it be lifted and that South Korea and the United States cease their joint military drills before any agreement to discuss an end-of-war declaration.
