Shares in Asia mixed after data, BoJ's comments

Shares on the major stock market indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Wednesday as the investors digested November's manufacturing purchasing managers' index readings from Japan and China.

Meanwhile, Bank of Japan board member Seiji Adachi noted that the bank will take added monetary policy steps in the case the Omicron variant of the coronavirus proves to pose a significant downward risk to the economy.

The Shanghai Composite was unchanged at 7:00 am CET, as the Shenzhen Composite lost 0.16%. The Australian S&P 200 fell 0.28% at the close, with Japan's Nikkei 225 up by 0.41% as the session ended.

South Korea's Kospi soared 2.2% at 7:16 am CET, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng concurrently adding 1.11%. The dollar advanced by 0.46% against the yen, going for 113.5435 at 7:17 am CET.
