Indian FM calls for UN Security Council reforms

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar (pictured) said the United Nations Security Council reform cannot be blocked by "procedural tactics" and went on to describe the current architecture as "anachronistic and ineffective."

"Naysayers cannot hold the IGN process hostage in perpetuity," he stressed while addressing the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

Talking about the global conflicts and acts of terror, the foreign minister said India "firmly" advocates for a "zero-tolerance" approach and that the country is on the side "that calls for dialogue and diplomacy." "In our view, there is no justification for any act of terrorism, regardless of motivation," he said, without naming any country or conflict in particular.
