Shoygu says US wants to prolong Ukraine conflict

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu on Tuesday accused the United States and its allies of deliberately "prolonging" the conflict in Ukraine.

"To do this, they have begun supplying heavy offensive weapons, openly calling on Ukraine to seize our territories," the minister of defense underscored during the conference call, adding that such actions "draw" NATO member states into the conflict that could result in an "unpredictable level of its escalation."

According to Shoygu, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 6,500 soldiers, 26 aircraft and 7 helicopters in January this year.
