Iran rules out cooperation with UN on human rights

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that Tehran will not cooperate with the United Nations investigation into human rights violations. The UN Human Rights Council set up an independent probe to look into Iran's crackdown on protesters, including reports of over 300 deaths and 15,000 arrests.

A spokesperson for the ministry dismissed the investigation as a "political committee." He added that Iran has its own panel consisting of "experts, lawyers, and official and unofficial representatives" and that it is "carrying out responsible duties and comprehensive investigation" into any possible human rights abuses.
