SilkAir proceeds with Boeing 737 MAX orders

Singapore Airlines Ltd. stated on Friday that its regional arm SilkAir will proceed with its order for 31 Boeing Co.'s 737 MAX planes, despite the ongoing probe into two lethal crashes involving that aircraft, Channel News Asia reported. CEO of the Singaporean flagship carrier Goh Choon Phong said that his company will continue to closely monitor the developments of the 737 MAX software update and resume their flights after the global certification process.

SilkAir operated six 737 MAX jets before grounding them in March after disasters in which nearly 350 passengers have died. Later, Singapore Airlines grounded two Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft after it discovered issues with their engine blades.

United States Federal Aviation Administration previously assessed that its officials didn't adequately participate in the evaluation process for 737 MAX flight-control system, as the aerospace giant presented updated software for the stall-prevention apparatus implicated in both crashes.
