Sinema agrees to tax hike to pay for spending bill - report

Centrist Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema agreed on Thursday to measures that will help fund the spending bill advocated by United States President Joe Biden, Politico reported. Sinema and Senator Joe Manchin are two of the most prominent figures in party negotiations over the size of the package.

Sinema previously seemed to rule out tax increases for the wealthy as a way to finance the bill. However, a source familiar with the talks stated she has now "agreed to provisions in each of President Biden's four proposed revenue categories - international, domestic corporate, high net worth individuals, and tax enforcement - providing sufficient revenue to fully pay for a budget reconciliation package in the range currently being discussed."
