Slack hires Goldman to lead IPO - report

Software company Slack Technologies Inc. hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as the lead underwriter for its initial public offering planned for 2019, local media reported.

The IT company was founded in 2009 by Stewart Butterfield, Eric Costello, Cal Henderson, and Serguei Mourachov as Tiny Speck. Following the launch of its workplace messaging app Slack in 2013, the software business changed its name to Slack Technologies. After its latest fundraising, the start-up was valued at $7.1 billion. Its investors include SoftBank's Vision Fund and General Atlantic.

Goldman and Slack declined to confirm or deny the appointment to the Financial Times.
