Snap snatches Mitchell for CMO role from McDonald's

Snap Inc., which presents itself as "a camera company," said on Thursday Kenny Mitchell accepted the newly created chief marketing officer position. The director held an equivalent role in McDonald's Corp. until now. He will be in charge of consumer and product programs, the social media operator revealed and vowed to keep bringing "creativity and new forms of self-expression to people all over the world."

The management praised Mitchell's experience in consumer marketing. "Throughout his career, Kenny has demonstrated his ability to successfully execute innovative, global marketing campaigns, many of which have leveraged our own vertical video and augmented reality products," chief executive Evan Spiegel said.

The new marketing head said he would help "define the future of the camera and self-expression. He used to lead the consumer engagement department at Gatorade and the statement adds he "pioneered the usage of Snapchat vertical video and augmented reality tools." He also held high-level roles at Nascar and NBC Sports' Dew Tour
