Soleimani's killing 'wake-up call' to Iran - Saudi Prince

The elimination of Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani by the United States forces represents a "wake-up call" to Iran's leadership, Saudi Arabian Prince Turki Al-Faisal asserted. He added that Tehran aims to establish itself as "the dominant representative of all of Islam in the world," claiming that assassination of Soleimani may halt "at least some of Iran's ambitions."

"The taking out of [Qasem] Soleimani definitely has been an important step to check at least some of the ambitions of Iran after its very provocative actions in the past year. The attacks on the oil tankers, culminating in the attack on the Aramco facilities. This was a sort of a wake-up call to the Iranian government," Al-Faisal said in an interview with CNBC on Thursday.

Previously, the media reported that US President Donald Trump authorized the killing of Soleimani back in June 2019 as Quds Force general allegedly planned the attacks on US personnel. Meanwhile, Trump stressed that his administration did "what should have been done for 20 years."
