SpaceX accepts Dogecoin as payment for satellite launch

SpaceX accepted Dogecoin as payment for funding the launch of its DOGE-1 satellite to the Moon, Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC) announced.

The mission is planned for early 2022 and marks the first-ever lunar payload in history paid entirely with the meme-inspired cryptocurrency.

Back in April, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk teased the launch in a tweet, promising his aerospace company will "put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon."

Dogecoin went down by 9.71% to $0.575310 at 1:27 am ET.
