Spanish inflation up 3.5% in September

Consumer Price Index in Spain rose by 3.5% year over year in September, the National Institute of Statistics revealed on Thursday in a preliminary report. The figure is the highest in six months.

According to the report, the result is mainly due to higher electricity and fuel prices. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for the same month increased by 3.2% compared to the same period last year, slightly less than expected. Meanwhile, the same indicator rose 0.6% on a monthly basis.

Compared to August, the CPI rose 0.2%, in line with market expectations.
