Sporadic differences not to affect Turkey-Russia ties - Cavusoglu

"We must not allow the problems in Syria to undermine our cooperation and relationship," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday, adding that the delivery of the S-400 antiaircraft weapon system will not be affected by recent differences on the issue of Idlib following the killing of five Turkish soldiers in the attack by Syria's Bashar Al Assad's regime.

Talking to reporters following a meeting with Russia's top diplomat Sergey Lavrov, Cavusoglu pointed out that "principled positions and policies" should not be circumstantial, dependent on "occasional disagreements" between countries.

Following the incident involving the death of Turkish troops, Ankara was quick to retaliate by destroying 101 Syrian government targets. In the feud, Moscow took the Syrian side, defending the attacks as efforts toward eliminating terrorists.
