Starmer: Deal with govt wouldn't last under new PM

Britain's Shadow Brexit secretary Keir Starmer stated on Friday that any deal agreed between the Labour Party and the UK government "wouldn't last a day" under a new leader of the Conservative Party. Starmer went on to say that Prime Minister Theresa May is trying to put the blame on the breakdown of cross-party Brexit talks on "everyone but herself." Instead, he said that the real problem was that May "couldn't carry her own side or offer a realistic compromise."

Starmer was referring to a remark by May earlier today, in which she blamed the collapse of cross-party talks on divisions in the Labour Party, but described the negotiations as "constructive." Meanwhile, Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn said that the reason talks broke down was the "increasing weakness and instability" of May's cabinet.
