State funeral of Queen Elizabeth II underway
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is about to be laid to rest on Monday next to her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died last year.
The Queen will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle later today, following a funeral ceremony at the Westminster Abbey which will end with reveille, the British national anthem and a lament by the Queen's piper. Around 2,000 people are estimated to be present in Westminster Abbey for the ceremony, including around 500 foreign dignitaries.
The second-longest ruler in the world's history died at the age of 96 on September 8 after leading the country for a record 70 years. She was succeeded by her son Charles, now known as King Charles III.
