Stoltenberg insists NATO is not 'brain dead

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg insisted on Wednesday that French President Emmanuel Macron's comments about the alliance being "brain dead" are inaccurate.

As he arrived for the day two of the NATO summit in London, Stoltenberg stressed that NATO is "adapting" to new challenges and that North American and European allies are "doing more together" than they have done in "many years." He also pointed out that European allies are increasing their defense budgets after years of cutting spending. However, acknowledged some differences among NATO members but insisted allies were always able to "overcome" such issues in the past.

On Tuesday, Macron stated he still stands behind his claim that the alliance is "brain dead" and accused NATO member Turkey of collaborating with ISIS proxies "sometimes."
