Sturgeon: Scotland stands firm against rise of far right

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon stated on Wednesday that her country rejects "the dog whistle xenophobia" prevalent in political discourse and stands "firm and united" against the rise of the far right.

During a speech at the Scottish Trades Union, Sturgeon stressed that one of the "most shameful" aspects of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union has been the treatment of EU citizens living in Britain. Instead, she vowed to send a message that Scotland is an open and welcoming country that wants "no part of Theresa May's despicable hostile environment."
