Sullivan: Biden admin considering talks with Xi

United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Thursday that the White House is considering a phone call between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, as well as an in-person meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in October.

"Soon enough we will sit down to work out the right modality for the two presidents to engage. It could be a phone call, it could be a meeting on the margins of another international summit, it could be something else," Sullivan said.

Earlier, when Biden was asked about whether he would ask Xi to push for an investigation on COVID-19 origins, the American leader replied: "We know each other well; we're not old friends. It's just pure business."
