Sullivan: Iran supplied weapons used by Houthis in Red Sea

White House National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan stated on Monday that the United States believes that the attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea "were launched by the Houthis in Yemen" but "were fully enabled by Iran."

"We are talking about the Houthis here, they are the ones with their finger on the trigger, but that gun, the weapons here are being supplied by Iran and we believe is the ultimate party responsible for this," Sullivan underlined during a press briefing. The White House representative further stated that the Biden administration does not believe that all three targeted ships had ties to Israel.

Previously, the US Central Command stated its Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS Carney provided assistance to three commercial vessels that were attacked by Yemen's Houthis.
