Sunak promises to act in case of energy prices rise

Former British Chancellor of the Exchequer and one of the two remaining hopefuls for the position of the next prime minister, Rishi Sunak, remarked on Tuesday he will if elected, take measures if the prices of energy go too high during the forthcoming autumn and winter.

"There is no doubt in my mind that more support will be needed," he tweeted. "As soon as we know how much bills will go up by, I will act."

His remarks came as energy consultancy firm Cornwall Insight estimated the energy bills in the United Kingdom will rise more in the forthcoming period and hit £3,582 a year in October, £4,266 in January, and £4,427 in April, much higher than initially expected.
