Sunak urges G20 to ban Putin from meetings

Former United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak demanded that Russian President Vladimir Putin be excluded from G20 meetings until the conflict in Ukraine ceases, his spokesperson revealed on Friday.

"Our G20 partners and allies have a collective responsibility to call Putin’s abhorrent behavior out. Sitting around a table with him isn’t good enough when he is responsible for children being killed in their beds as they sleep," cited the spokesperson, noting that such a move would send a stern message to Putin.

Previously, Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares underscored that the country would be "happy" to mediate a meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin at the sidelines of the G20 summit, but that no such meeting has yet been requested. The upcoming summit is scheduled to take place in Bali, Indonesia, in November.
