Sweden will honor its promises to Turkey - PM

Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson stated on Tuesday that her country intends to fulfill the obligations it promised it will when it signed the memorandum of understanding with Turkey on its accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Speaking to journalists at a press conference, Andersson also commented on the first extradition of a man from Sweden to Turkey, where he is being charged with fraud, saying the decision was made in accordance with the country's and international law "and we will continue to work that way".

Andersson's remarks came after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu remarked again that Sweden and Finland are not honoring the promises they made in relation to the groups Ankara considers terrorist, a prerequisite for the latter not to block Stockholm and Helsinki's accession to NATO.
