Swiss inflation climbs to 3.4% in June, highest since 1993

Consumer prices in Switzerland rose 3.4% year on year in June, above market expectations and the highest since 1993, the Federal Statistics Office of that country said on Monday.

On a monthly basis, the CPI went up by 0.5% in the same month. According to the report, the increasing figure is due to several causes, "including rising prices for fuel."

"Heating oil also recorded a price increase, as did fruiting vegetables. In contrast, prices for red wines and salads decreased," said the report.
