Tech giant Prosus raises offer to $7.16B for Just Eat

International internet assets division of Naspers and the largest consumer internet company in Europe, Prosus N.V, made on Thursday its final offer for the British online food delivery company Just Eat, increasing its offer to value it at £5.5 billion ($7.16 billion), or £8 per share. The only Prosus' competitor is meal delivery firm Takeaway.com, also from the Netherlands, that made the bid for Just Eat.

The company added that the shareholders can propose an offer until January 10, 2020. CEO of Prosus Bob van Dijk expressed that "the acquisition of Just Eat, which brings its portfolio of good market positions, would be a meaningful step in realizing this goal. We urge Just Eat shareholders to accept this final offer and bring the uncertainty around Just Eat’s future to a close."

Just Eat stocks traded 1.35% higher at 4:50 pm CET, while at the same time Prosus shares traded flat.
