Tesla: All Model 3 versions eligible for US tax credit
Tesla Inc. revealed on its website on Friday that all versions of its Model 3 are now eligible for full $7,500 tax credit in the United States.
The Model 3 Performance was the only version that remained qualified for the full subsidy the entire time since it was introduced, while the Model 3 Long Range and Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive were downgraded to the $3,750 federal tax credit at one point earlier this year.
Electric vehicle purchases are subsidized by the US government under the Inflation Reduction Act, but vehicles have to meet requirements centered on whether the car assembly, battery production and critical minerals sourcing were carried out in North America or not in order to qualify.
