Tesla rolls out 'Dog Mode' to prevent pet overheating

American car-maker Tesla Inc. officially introduced on Thursday a new feature called "Dog Mode" specially designed to prevent overheating of pets left in vehicles unattended. The feature functions by regulating air temperature in vehicles, which makes pets more comfortable while waiting for their owners to return. "Dog Mode" also comes with a display screen to let "passersby know they don't need to worry," the company stated. Tesla owners will also be warned if the car battery power falls below 20%.

The "Dog Mode" is just one of several new features being developed by the electric car-maker to improve safety, such as the "Sentry Mode" which monitors the surroundings of a car while it's locked and parked. If the feature detects any surrounding threats, a warning alert will be sent to an owner's Tesla mobile app.
