Texas gov. scraps permit requirement for concealed guns

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a bill on Thursday allowing citizens older than 21 to carry a concealed handgun without a permit from September 1.

With the bill, formally signed yesterday, Texas joined the list of 20 other federal states in the United States which have already implemented such rule. Following the official signing ceremony, Abbott commented saying Texas is about to turn into a "Second Amendment sanctuary" where no new gun restrictions will be enforced.

Until September, Texas citizens will still be required to undergo training on gun laws, conflict de-escalation and fire training followed by a background check before receiving the permit to carry a concealed gun.
