There are likely 5-10M COVID-19 cases globally - Australian CMO

The real number of people infected with the coronavirus in the world is between 5 million and 10 million, Australian Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Brendan Murphy told the press in Canberra on Friday.

He added he was particularly sceptical of numbers on the numbers of COVID-19 cases from China and the United States. Murphy went on to praise Australian testing efforts, saying that he has "total faith" in them since about 1% of the country's population has been tested.

US figures on testing are closer to 0.4% of the entire population.
