Three House committees threaten subpoenas over Ukraine docs

The chairs of three House committees threatened Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday with subpoenas if the State Department fails to provide the documents it requested regarding reports President Donald Trump pressured the Ukrainian government to "interfere" in the 2020 election.

"Seeking to enlist a foreign actor to interfere with an American election undermines our sovereignty, democracy, and the Constitution, which the President is sworn to preserve, protect, and defend," the chair of the Committees on Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, and Oversight wrote. "By withholding these documents and refusing to engage with the Committees, the Trump Administration is obstructing Congress' oversight duty under the Constitution to protect our nation's democratic process," they underlined.

President Trump is being accused of pressuring Ukraine to investigate former Vice President and presidential hopeful Joe Biden.
