Tokyo CPI increases by 0.6% YoY in July

The consumer price index in the Ku-area of Tokyo beat expectations in July growing by 0.6% to stand at 102.1 compared to the same month a year earlier. Meanwhile, in contrast with the numbers seen in June, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.3%, according to a preliminary report released on Tuesday by the Statistics Bureau of Japan.

The index excluding fresh food and energy rose by 0.6% year on year, and was up 0.3% to 102.2 on a monthly basis, while the CPI excluding only fresh food grew by 0.2% month-on-month, meanwhile, it added 0.4% on a yearly basis.

The index for all goods rose 1.2% from June last year, while the prices of services were up by 0.1%.
