Tokyo's consumer inflation slips to 2.8% in September

Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Ku-area of Tokyo landed slightly under investor's estimates in September, expanding by 2.8% over the year to 102.9, the Statistics Bureau of Japan's preliminary report released on Tuesday showed.

The headline figure went down by 0.1 percentage point when compared to the year-on-year data for the previous month, when the CPI calculated for the nation's capital marked a 2.9% improvement.

The CPI excluding fresh food and energy went down up by 1.7% on a yearly basis, while the index excluding only fresh food added 2.8% compared to last year's data.
