Tokyo Stock Exchange head to step down - report

Tokyo Stock Exchange President and CEO Koichiro Miyahara is planning to step down, Nikkei reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Miyahara has held the position of TSE president and CEO since 2015.

The move was allegedly announced during a board meeting and comes after the exchange encountered a technical issue on October 1 and trading had to be halted for an entire day. Miyahara's resignation is expected to be effective immediately and be officially announced later in the day.

He will be replaced by Akira Kiyota, CEO of JPX, which owns TSE, who will also remain at the helm of the parent company.
