Tokyo's inflation down to 0.2% in September

Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Ku-area of Tokyo surprised expectations in September, growing by 0.2% over the year to stand at 101.9, the Statistics Bureau of Japan's preliminary report showed.

The headline inflation figure fell by 0.1% compared to the previous month, when the CPI calculated for the nation's capital advanced by 0.3% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the index for all goods rose by 1.4% from August last year as the prices of services fell by 0.2 percentage points.

The CPI excluding fresh food and energy remained unchanged on a yearly basis, but added 0.1 month-on-month, while the index excluding only fresh food remained unmoved compared to last month's data, but lost 0.2% compared to the figure seen in the same month last year.
