Tory MP Boles resigns from local party

Conservative MP Nick Boles told his local association that he has resigned from his local party, the BBC reported on Saturday.

In a letter seen by the media outlet, Boles, who is the MP for the Grantham and Stamford constituency in Lincolnshire, said that he was resigning with immediate effect and that "a division had opened up" between the local association and him. Boles added that although he regretted that their relationship should end in such a manner, "a politician without principles is worthless." He will, however, remain the constituency's representative in Parliament.

Boles is also a member of a cross-party parliamentary group that recently said that it would take control of the United Kingdom's withdrawal process from the European Union if British Prime Minister Theresa May's deal is rejected for a third time next week. Boles stated that either the government would bring the motion forward on March 25 or the group itself would amend the motion to ensure that it would happen.
