Trudeau: We must stand with Ukraine 'as long as it takes'
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated on Friday that Ottawa and Washington must stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Ukraine and its people "as long as it takes" to defend democracy and international order.
"Together both of us are partners Ukraine and the world can count on," Trudeau underscored in the address at the Canadian Parliament, attended by United States President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden during their visit to Ottawa.
"We've both used sanctions, punitive economic measures to continue to deplete the Kremlin's war chest... After an exhausting winter, Ukraine still stands," the prime minister said, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin "underestimated" the resolve of Europe and NATO allies, as well as the courage of Ukrainians to defend their country and culture.
